Harbhajan Singh Slapped Sreesanth

After winning the match against Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab’s fast bowler Shanthakumaran Sreesanth was seen crying at the ground. First it looked as if they were tears of joy as KXP registered there first win. But then, things took a serious turn. Sreesanth once started crying, never stopped crying at the ground. Reports came in later, confirming that those were not the tears of joy. The reports confirmed that Harbhajan Singh Slapped Sreesanth.

Harbhajan and Sreesanth both are known to be aggressive on the field. We haven’t forgotten whatever happened in Australia against Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds. But this time it happened after the match was over and between the two team mates of Team India. Both of them are playing for different teams in IPL though.

The big question is, why did Harbhajan slap Sreesanth? What made Harbhajan go out of controls? Sreesanth really did something to get such a reaction from Harbhajan? Will Harbhajan be punished? Will Sreesanth take this issue any further?

Well we have a few answers for these questions.

It looks as if things started during the 8th over of Mumbai Indians innings when Sreesanth was hit for a six by Robin Uthappa. Sreesanth, as usual, got back at Uthappa in that over. Robin Uthappa didn’t last long though but it seems as if he complained to his acting captain i.e. Harbhajan Singh about Sreesanth’s behavior. This seems to have triggered the issue. Harbhajan didn’t say anything at that time. He must have been depressed a bit too by the loss against Kings XI Punjab team. At the end of the match, Sreesanth was shown crying on television screen.

Yuvraj Singh, in his press conference confirmed that Harbhajan Singh’s behavior was “ugly and unacceptable” and Harbhajan Singh will apologize to Sreesanth in dressing room. Tom moody too condemned the act but none of them gave any details of the incident. Harbhajan singh denied responding to the questions when asked about the incident. Laters it was reported that Harbhajan Singh apologized to Sreesanth in dressing room in presence of all the senior members, team management and IPL commissioner.

Harbhajan singh later talked a little about this to the reporters and said, we are brothers and it was a family matter and he won’t discuss the family matters in public. He said, things have been sorted out. Sreesanth too talked to the reporters and said that it was nothing special and its just part of the game.

Kings XI Punjab team management is planning to lodge an official complaint though. Strict actions might be taken against Harbhajan Singh if KXP files a complaint. A similar incident happened when Shoaib Akhtar hit Mohammed Asif with bat. Shoaib was severly punished for his act. Will BCCI or IPL punish the spinner?

IS Bindra, the president of the Punjab Cricket Association, denied that an official complaint has been lodged. “Some media people have asked me about this incident. No official complaint has reached me yet. I believe what happens on the field should be sorted out by the players on the field itself,” he said.

Ness Wadia, the owner of Mohali King’s XI Punjab refused to comment on the matter.

This incident surely brought in shame for Indian cricket.

HARBHAJAN ,I think should stop playing cricket.First it was galy in chaste Punjabi to Mat Hayden which Hayden thought was “monkey” not realising it was “maa……….” the word that one can hear all over Delhi and Pinjab.
HE MAY APOLOGISE BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH.HE IS A MATURED GUY AND BEHAVE LIKE A BULLY ON A SPORTING ARENA AND TO YOUNGER MEMBER OF HIS OWN NATIONAL TEAM -IS A SHAME SHAME SHAME.
HE MUST APOLOGISE ON NATIONAL T.V. KNEELING DOWN.
